IRP Detroit sponsors several independent discussion and interest groups that meet one to four times per month throughout the year. The individual group sets its agenda, selects its subjects or activities, and arranges for its session leader or speakers. Participation in the group’s discussions, activities and planning by every individual member is encouraged and is considered the key to the group’s success and intellectual satisfaction.
Each group is headed by a member or team of members who facilitate, organize and conduct its programs. The group of facilitators form a Facilitators Council that supports maintaining attractive and engaging interest group involvement. Everyone is free to participate in any or all of the groups. Members are also encouraged to come together and introduce a new group or reactivate a group that had been offered in the past. There is no charge to attend IRP Detroit Discussion/Interest Groups and we encourage participants to become members and stay involved.
IRP Detroit members initiate and facilitate a diverse range of interest groups that cater to various intellectual pursuits and foster a community of lifelong learners. Everyone is welcome to attend and engage in stimulating discussions, presentations and activities. membership is not required but encouraged.
